About the visiting principal dancers:
Maria Calegari was a prima ballerina with the New York City Ballet from 1974-1994 where she performed over 50 soloist roles to high acclaim. Since 1997 she has taught the ballets of George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins to ballet companies worldwide. She is listed in Who’s Who of America Women and was honored with the Jerome Robbins Award in 2011 for her contributions to dance.

Bart Cook is a former principal dancer and ballet master of the New York City Ballet (1971-1993) and has been a repetiteur for both the George Balanchine Trust and the Robbins Rights Trust since 1988 traveling worldwide to most major ballet companies. George Balanchine assigned Cook the role of being Assistant Ballet Master to Mr. Robbins in 1980. A post he held until his departure in 1993. For the School of American Ballet Mr. Balanchine urged Cook to begin to choreograph. He produced several ballets for the SAB Educational Outreach programs and for the SAB annual workshop.
