Endowments

The Bernard & Maria Hassell Fund
Each year the Putnam Arts Council presents the All County Student Art Show in cooperation with the Putnam County high schools. This show is displayed in the Levine Art Center Galleries and often provides the first opportunity for students to display their artwork in a professional gallery setting.
Several artworks from this show are purchased each year and become part of the Bernard & Maria Hassell Collection, a permanent collection of artwork maintained by the Putnam Arts Council and displayed in public sites throughout Putnam County.
The Hassell Collection is part of our Contemporary Collection, which also includes works donated to the Arts Council by area artists, and student artwork purchased from the National Council on Alcoholism Poster Contest.

The Margaret C. Weizenecker Memorial Fund
Through a bequest in 1998 from Edwin J. Weizenecker in memory of his wife, the Council established this Fund with a goal to foster music appreciation, especially in the youth of Putnam County.  Activities funded through this grant include but are not limited to workshops, recitals and concerts wherein the piano is the solo instruments

About the Putnam Arts Council

The Putnam Arts Council (PAC) is a not-for-profit arts service organization chartered in 1963 by the NY State Department of Education. PAC is a voice for the arts in Putnam County and maintains a leadership role in fostering, funding, promoting and developing the visual, performing and literary arts in Putnam County and the region. The Putnam Arts Council is partially supported with public funds received from Putnam County and with public funds from the NYS Council on the Arts with support from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and the NYS Legislature. Additional revenue is generated through membership, programs, special events, fundraising, and with contributions from the public and private sectors.
