“Small Works Fine Art Exhibition”  
OPEN CALL to Artists to showcase their talent on a smaller scale. Artists 18 and over of all levels are welcome. Artwork must be no larger than 8”x10”, all 2D and 3D (8”x10”x8”) mediums accepted. Frames are optional. Click here to download prospectus.

“Small Crafts Showcase and Sale”  
This year we have reimagined our craft showcase and sale to be presented in conjunction with Small Works Fine Art Exhibition.  
Small Crafts will feature a dozen or so invited artisans from throughout the region; some new and some annual favorites. Our sale will include scarves, jewelry, glass, cards, small sculptures, clocks, ornaments, books, chocolate and more.

Free admission / PAC members receive a 10% discount on all purchases over $15

Holiday Train Show Installation: This year AOTL is dramatically expanding their setup of model trains for the Holidays. Come bring your inner child (and your real ones) to enjoy the fascinating setup and wonderful settings.

All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914: Out of the violence of World War I, a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. An a cappella chorale, All Is Calm is a remarkable true story in the words and songs of those who lived it. Musical direction by Joy Giuseffi and Ellen Lang. Stage direction by Mario Riccobon. Produced by Stacy Dumont and Jean Mazzilli.

“Picturesque Putnam 60 & 60 Exhibition”

The Putnam Arts Council and the Southeast Museum each commemorate their 60th anniversary this year. In celebration of this significant milestone, we are pleased to partner to showcase the beauty and heritage of Putnam County in collaboration with Putnam County Tourism. Both organizations took this opportunity to not only involve artists but also engage historical institutions in the pursuit of showcasing the enduring allure of Putnam County, both in its contemporary vibrancy and its cherished past.

The artworks in this exhibit all feature outdoor Putnam County scenes. 

Artwork will be exhibited in the A. Eric Arctander Gallery at the Putnam Arts Council in Mahopac and at the Southeast Museum in the Village of Brewster.

The Down Hill Strugglers:
An old-time string band. John Cohen, who became their mentor and bandmate and co-founded Tompkins Corners in 2015, said of the Strugglers, “They have built their repertoire from some of the best music of the past and they keep it alive and lively. They have found resonance with the intensity of rural music, while delighting in the nuances that preserve the individual uniqueness of the genre. This is music that will keep your mind dancing.”

“Hudson River Potters Holiday Show and Sale”

December 2-3, 2023

The Putnam Arts Council is pleased to welcome the Hudson River Potters to a Holiday Pottery Show and Sale in our gallery on December 2 and 3.  Find unique one-of-kind handmade pottery – both functional and decorative – to please everyone on your holiday gift list.  Potters will be onsite to share information on their pieces, process, and inspiration.

This is Robert Capa! An exhibition of over 50 photographs captured by famed war photographer Robert Capa (1913 – 1954). The exhibit comes to AOTL from the Capa Space, Quaker Church Rd, Yorktown, NY.

This exhibit brings to our walls the images of this world famous photographer known especially for his wartime photojournalism. Over the course of twenty years, his camera and adventurous spirit brought home the grim realities of five different wars. Capa’s photographs are recognized across the globe for their critical role in shaping public remembrance of these events.  In between his wartime exploits, Capa’s frankness and likability forged friendships across the spectrum of war, art, literature, and celebrity.

@ 2pm Photographer (and founding member of AOTL) Bob Rogers will speak about Capa and his legacy. The Capa Space Board Member Rebecca Swan will speak on how The Capa Space came to be located in Yorktown, NY.

George & Ruth: Songs and Letters of the Spanish Civil War: A dramatic performance which tells the true story of George and Ruth Watt, newlyweds separated by war. Told in their words, adapted from letters they wrote to each other while George served as a volunteer in the Lincoln Battalion in Spain.

She has participated in numerous shows in the United States and Italy as well as art fairs in NY and Miami. Her work is included in various corporate and private collections. She has adjudicated many art competitions, including NYFA grant awards, over the course of her career.

Putnam Fall for Dance: An exciting weekend of Modern Dance and New Choreography, at AOTL on the Boyd Family Concert Lawn. The Saturday outdoor matinee performances feature modern dance companies: Dances by Isadora /NYC, Erick Hawkins, as well as Putnam County Dance Project.

Admission: $25, fundraiser after show is additional

Monday outdoor matinee open stage of new choreographic works or works in progress. This showcase is like open mic for music… many surprises in variety and style of dance. Preview: Pay Dirt – New Scenes

In a preview of this new play commissioned by the Putnam Theatre Alliance (Arts on the Lake, Tompkins Corners Cultural Center, and the Depot Theatre) the presentation at PAC will include key scenes, key characters and a plan for how the production will be realized and tour the three theaters in March 2024.

It is expected to last about an hour, but the gallery will remain open and the audience will be invited to share refreshments with the producers and the diverse cast of actors.
