Rev 250 Exhibition – Our Country, Our History, Our Nation

July 5 – August 2

Due to feedback from members that additional time would be helpful, and to provide further clarification on the exhibition theme, the Putnam Arts Council is extending the artwork drop-off deadline for the Rev 250 Art Show by one week. As a result, the exhibition opening has been moved to Sunday, July 5.

In addition, artists may now submit up to three pieces for consideration. Artists who have already delivered two works are welcome to bring an additional piece during the extended drop-off period.

The Rev 250 Art Show celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States as an independent nation. The exhibition invites artists to explore the history, culture, traditions, people, landscapes, ideals, challenges, and achievements that have shaped our nation and communities over the past 250 years, while also reflecting on the future we are creating together.

We encourage artists to interpret the theme broadly and creatively, drawing inspiration from national events, local history, personal experiences, and visions for America’s future.

We want to expand the call for art for REV250 to be a call for art celebrating our 250thanniversary!

Fireworks, flags, parades, and all that you celebrate and all that is important to you, present and/or past.  We want to celebrate with you – we invite artwork that reflects your vision through all media – paintings, drawings, photos, collages, prints, ceramics, videos, and more!  Share your thoughts and feelings around this important celebration.

Some ideas to consider: public parks, public landscapes, flags, fireworks, statues, parades, family and friends… whatever you celebrate in our county! These are just a few ideas – voice your own. We look forward to seeing your work.

Building Bridges is a newly developed art class held by the Putnam County Youth Bureau that is taught by Naomi Bowen. The students were from different districts and backgrounds, but all expressed themselves freely and made a few connections along the way. Although they were all given the same tasks, the differences between their pieces made their individuality stand out.  Some may have signed up just to have an outlet, but through Building Bridges they developed a better level of self- expression.
