Gelli plate printing is easy mono printing that uses a silicon mat (like a jello jiggler) to create textures and layers of color on paper, wood, or fabric. After spreading acrylic paint on the plate with a brayer, we create visual textures using craft foam, lace and string or natural elements like leaves. We will combine various paints and papers, masks, and stencils, learn how to layer prints, and experiment with all of the creative possibilities. We can use rubber stamps to make greeting cards and magazine pages to transfer images to the paper and other elements to create beautiful abstracts. A gelli plate, brayer, paints, paper, and texture tools will be provided for use in the class. If you have a plate or brayer, you can bring it to class.
