Description
Open to all levels
Painting a picture does not require that you draw well or know perspective, or even know how to blend paint, but if you want to make a better painting, it does help to hone your skills of observation, learn more about how to use the materials, acquire new techniques, and learn some tricks of the trade. Using acrylic, oil, or water-based oil paint, you will learn how to make a painting or expand your already established abilities. Everyone will work on their own art, at their own pace and skill level, and receive individual instruction as well as enjoy class discussions and demonstrations in a supportive open studio environment. Discussions will cover all aspects of making a painting from choosing an image to using different types of brushes to blocking in your image to cleaning up your palette, and we will also talk about the work of established artists and art history as it relates to the artwork.
Each student should come to class with a few source materials and images to paint. Suggested materials list available here.
