Learning how to really see what you’re looking at is the most basic skill for an art student. Practicing observation and learning how to draw what you see are the heart of this class. We will draw from objects, still life, photos, and other sources, and learn the techniques of line, shape, volume, gesture, texture, and composition. Each class will include lessons on different materials and art history as it relates to the project. Also, we will have a tour and discussion of the artwork on display in the Art Center’s Gallery. Students will apply these new skills at their own level as the class will not be limited by group projects, but rather will focus on each student’s personal interest and development.
