Learning to make a pot on the wheel can be magical, humbling, exhilarating and challenging, but most of all fun.
In this course, all adults are welcome – from complete novice through more experienced potters. Beginners will be introduced to the important basics of wedging, centering, throwing a basic form, trimming and glazing bowls, cups and other vessels. Intermediate and advanced students will be encouraged to develop their own personal style, and to grow as potters. Specific projects will be demonstrated including, teapots, casseroles, altered forms, bud vases, and round forms. Selection of projects will be responsive to the desires of the students. Different surface treatments will also be explored. The instructor will demonstrate at the beginning of each class and will respond to each student’s individual needs depending upon their level and proficiency.
