Come create fun projects with clay in this 2 hour class! Let’s dream up creations that reflect your unique style! Creative clay focuses on learning clay and hand-building basics and exploring different ways to join, shape, and decorate clay. We will use our imaginations to bring clay to life through the three basic hand-building forms – pinching, coiling, and slab-rolling. This class is ideal for first time students and returning potters, it encourages personal expression through structured projects along with individualized instruction. Projects will be both functional (a bowl, a plate, and cup) and decorative (a vase, and a box) and will also include sculptural elements. Together we will focus on experimenting with surface treatments including – texture, pattern, and color methods. You will get muddy, so wear an old shirt or apron. Max 10 students

NOTE: 4 hours of free open studio time per week! is available to students enrolled in class. On Friday afternoons from 1:30-4:30, please call the office to let us know you are coming (845-803-8622). Additional studio time can be purchased at $8/hour for members and $10/hour for non-members.
A 25 lb. bag of brown or white stoneware clay costs $20 for students who need to purchase clay. Firing fees are 6 cents per cubic inch for members and 8 cents per cubic inch for the public. All fees are due on the second to last class. Note: Wear an apron, bring water, and cut your nails.
