Exploring 3-D Landscapes – Creative Kids Clay, Ages 6-10, with Melissa Rossow, Starts July 30

Ages 6-10, all levels welcome
Let’s learn about famous artists and their paintings! We will re-create some artists’ renowned pieces in this fun and educational class. Examples of famous works of art will be provided and children will navigate a slab of clay and create a three-dimensional representation of a favorite painting, while adding their own spin to the original.

Students will use their hands to create one-of-a-kind pieces with earthenware clay. All the basics will be covered, and all levels are welcome! Instruction will be provided on the three basic forms of hand-building (pinch-pots, coils, and slabs), the use of clay tools, and the addition of texture and color for individuality and reflecting personal diversity in their pieces.

Everyone has something to bring to art – students personalities as well as their ideas are nurtured. They will be given examples of possible projects in each two-week session while developing personal expression and imagination. Individual instruction and small classes are hallmarks of our summer programs. Please tie hair back and wear comfortable clothes that welcome getting dirty! Clay is a satisfying endeavor, but messy, and it does wash out. NOTE: Clay and firing fees are included
