Ages: 11-18
This class will be an open studio where each student works on their own art projects, whether it is anime or traditional drawing and painting. Students will explore and experiment, focusing each week on a specific art project. Instruction will include different techniques and a variety of materials including pencil, colored pencil, marker, pastel, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic paint. Classes will emphasize observation skills, composition, and the differences between illustration, cartoons, and anime, as well as principles of graphic design and fine art. References to manga and art history will be an important part of the studio experience. Personal expression will be encouraged in a supportive atmosphere where each student works at their own level while participating in the group lessons. All materials will be supplied. Please wear appropriate clothing or bring a smock. Artwork on display in our gallery will be shown to the students to encourage and inspire.
