Animal Magnetism

May 18, 2024 – June 2, 2024

Theme show open to everyone! No age limit, you do not have to be a member of the Putnam Arts Council or have any art experience, just let your creativity and imagination fly. We welcome images of animals of every kind – be they pets, farm residents, wild creatures, mythical beings, or even those born from your imagination! Framed and unframed work accepted.

Hand Delivery of Work:  Sat.-Sun, May 11-12, 2-5pm 

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 18, 2-5pm

Additional Gallery Hours: Tuesday thru Friday, 1-4pm,

Sunday, May 19 & 26, 2-5pm, or by appointment

Closing Reception: Sunday, June 2, 2-4pm, Artist Talk: 3-4pm                                              

This closing event offers a second opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions, and learn about their process.

Building Bridges Pop Up Show: Building Bridges is an art class held by the Putnam County Youth Bureau taught by Naomi Bowen. Students are all given the same tasks, the differences between their pieces made their individuality stand out.  Some may have signed up just to have an outlet, but through Building Bridges they developed a better level of self- expression.

The Putnam Arts Council warmly invites you to our annual members show at the Belle Levine Art Center, 521 Kennicut Hill Road, Mahopac, NY, 10541.

Gallery hours:  Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 4pm; Sunday, March 24,  2-5pm; or by appointment.

Pottery Workshops

One day pottery workshops. Learn to hand build/sculpt in our climate-controlled pottery studio. Students will create one or two projects. $50/$45 PAC members per person per workshop

Spring classes in the arts: our offerings include 6 week classes in drawing, painting, pottery, and more offered days, afternoons, after-school, evenings, and weekends – for kids, teens, and adults from beginner to experienced.  One day workshops, too.

“Small Works Fine Art Exhibition”  
OPEN CALL to Artists to showcase their talent on a smaller scale. Artists 18 and over of all levels are welcome. Artwork must be no larger than 8”x10”, all 2D and 3D (8”x10”x8”) mediums accepted. Frames are optional. Click here to download prospectus.

“Small Crafts Showcase and Sale”  
This year we have reimagined our craft showcase and sale to be presented in conjunction with Small Works Fine Art Exhibition.  
Small Crafts will feature a dozen or so invited artisans from throughout the region; some new and some annual favorites. Our sale will include scarves, jewelry, glass, cards, small sculptures, clocks, ornaments, books, chocolate and more.

Free admission / PAC members receive a 10% discount on all purchases over $15

Picturesque Putnam 60 & 60 Exhibition

The Putnam Arts Council and the Southeast Museum each commemorate their 60th anniversary this year. In celebration of this significant milestone, we are pleased to partner to showcase the beauty and heritage of Putnam County in collaboration with Putnam County Tourism. Both organizations took this opportunity to not only involve artists but also engage historical institutions in the pursuit of showcasing the enduring allure of Putnam County, both in its contemporary vibrancy and its cherished past.

The artworks in this exhibit all feature outdoor Putnam County scenes. 

Artwork will be exhibited in the A. Eric Arctander Gallery at the Putnam Arts Council in Mahopac and at the Southeast Museum in the Village of Brewster.

“Hudson River Potters Holiday Show and Sale”

December 2-3, 2023

The Putnam Arts Council is pleased to welcome the Hudson River Potters to a Holiday Pottery Show and Sale in our gallery on December 2 and 3.  Find unique one-of-kind handmade pottery – both functional and decorative – to please everyone on your holiday gift list.  Potters will be onsite to share information on their pieces, process, and inspiration.

PAC invites you to our annual show of original fine art created by artists throughout the region.  This is a juried show, awards will be presented at the Opening Reception Saturday, Oct. 7th.

Juror of Selections & Awards: Kathy Feighery has been practicing art, specifically painting, for 30 years. She has participated in numerous shows in the United States and Italy as well as art fairs in NY and Miami. Her work is included in various corporate and private collections. She has adjudicated many art competitions, including NYFA grant awards, over the course of her career.

Jeanne Demotses Excellence in Arts Awards:  Best in Show $150, Second Place ($100) and Third Place ($75) + 5 Honorable Mentions.
