Artist Bio
I proudly possess Jane-of-All-Trades credentials. I am still working on polishing the finer arts. I have a BA in English Writing and Art from Westminster College and a Commercial Art & Illustration degree from Pace University.
I paid my dues designing telephone directory ads (OK, that dates me!) by day and “putting to bed” a local newspaper by night. I broadened and honed my skills as: book designer, illustrator, art director for various children’s and educational publishers; a regional magazine’s one-woman art dept.; ad agency team player; educational product designer; and whip-cracking “boss lady” of a promotions team—free-lancing all the while, too.
I’ve authored and designed/illustrated 15 children’s books, an historical bio, and designed/co-edited other several others.
I have my own studio now – Empress Creative – where I combine all the above skills on a variety of projects for print and web. And if you think that’s enough to keep me out of trouble, you’d be surprised!
