This is a drawing class for students who have had some experience with painting. We will study techniques from old masters and contemporary artists and learn skills to “draw with a brush,” directly onto the canvas or paper. Lessons in how to capture the forms, colors, composition, balance and contrasts of light and shadow and how to “block in” the image with paint will form the basis of this class. These skills, whether they are learned with a pencil or a brush, form the basis of creating two dimensional art and are invaluable to a student of drawing or painting. The preference is for acrylic or oil paint, but you may also use watercolor. We will work with some objects and images chosen by the teacher as well as images chosen by each student.
