Description

Learn to hand build clay using a variety of techniques as your instructor shares her specialized methods for creating elegant sculpture figures  and functional works of art. Students will explore form, color glazing, and free-form building methods as an alternative to wheel throwing. Encouraging self- expression is a key component of this course.

6 Thursdays, 1-3 pm

$150 / $145 PAC members + five cents per cubic inch

 

Clay Open Studio Time
Free to enrolled pottery students with only a materials/firing fee of 5 cents per cubic inch.  Open studio is available to others with approval of instructor at a rate of $8/hr. + 5 cents per cubic inch materials/firing fee.  No instruction is provided during open studio, it’s primarily time for finishing projects and practicing.

Clay Studio Rental
Available on a monthly basis for potters with experience.

About Our Courses

All of our courses are taught by working artists & educators using quality materials in our climate controlled art studio spaces at the Belle Levine Art Center. Limited enrollment, individual instruction and a nurturing environment are hallmarks of our educational programs.

About the Putnam Arts Council

The Putnam Arts Council (PAC) is a not-for-profit arts service organization chartered in 1963 by the NY State Department of Education. PAC is a voice for the arts in Putnam County and maintains a leadership role in fostering, funding, promoting and developing the visual, performing and literary arts in Putnam County and the region. The Putnam Arts Council is partially supported with public funds received from Putnam County and with public funds from the NYS Council on the Arts with support from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and the NYS Legislature. Additional revenue is generated through membership, programs, special events, fundraising, and with contributions from the public and private sectors.
